30 things to do before turning 30

Anyone else have 30 sneak up on them? I have less than 6 months in my 20’s! How did that happen?! I want to make sure I make the most that remaining time, and since I’m an A-Type personality a 30 before 30 list seemed like the perfect way to accomplish that. Anyone else get immense satisfaction from checking things off a list? I’ve been known to add things onto lists that I’ve already done, just so I can check them off again! Please tell me I’m not the only one! I actually started this list a few weeks ago and have already accomplished one or two.

  1.  Plan a vacation. Like, an actual vacation, not a visiting family vacation or a working vacation or a weekend getaway, but a real, actual vacation. I can’t even remember the last time I did that.
  2. Take a cooking class. This is something I’ve always wanted to do and never have.
  3. Have a dinner party. I haven’t announced this yet but, we are moving in a few weeks! Our last home, was so lovely and I really enjoyed my couple years living there, but it was awful for entertaining. Our new home is perfect for entertaining and I want to throw a bash!
  4. Run a 5K. I ran one last year and loved it but haven’t run one since!
  5. Max out my IRA for the year. Because, you know, responsibilities.
  6. Night out in Seattle. We live a couple hours north of Seattle so we don’t get down there too often. I want a night out, with dinner, drinks, and exploring.
  7. Plan my 30th birthday party! I haven’t done much for my birthday the past few years. This year, I want to have a bash.
  8. Hike Oyster Dome. This is a gorgeous but strenuous hike near us up a mountain. The one and only time I’ve done it, we got to the top, and it was so foggy we couldn’t see anything. I want to see the sights!
  9. Volunteer. This is something I’m passionate about but have been really slacking on.
  10. Go to a football game. Doesn’t matter what level, NFL, college, high school. I just want to go to an actual game this season.
  11. Take a class. I don’t know in what yet, but I love all the community education available, and I want to take a class!
  12. Start doing yoga. I have always wanted to try my hand at yoga, and have never taken the plunge.
  13. Girl’s brunch! It’s been 6 months since I went to brunch and probably a year the time before that. So, I’m due for girl talk, champagne, and delicious food.
  14. Host a holiday party. This is a level of adult that I have not reached yet.
  15. Finish 2 books. Now, you real bookworms will laugh at this, but I’m so busy that I feel like I never get to read as much as I would like. Example, I have been reading the same book for months and I’m barely halfway through it.
  16. Get eyelash extensions, just because. I’ve never had them but think it would be fun to treat myself.
  17. Visit Leavenworth during the holidays. This is a sweet Bavarian town up in the mountains that I’ve always wanted to visit during the holiday season.
  18. Buy a gym membership… again. The summers are so beautiful here in the Pacific Northwest that I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible hiking, running, or just exercising outdoors. So, I pretty much always let my gym membership lapse. Now is the time of year I need to renew it.
  19. Knit something. Well, really, I want to finish knitting a scarf! You guys, this is embarrassing, but I have been knitting a scarf for years. YEARS! It’s a big scarf with thin yarn and smaller needles, but still, that’s ridiculous.
  20. Write 3 handwritten notes/week. I think handwritten notes are so wonderful to give and receive.
  21. Purge! I have so much stuff, and I love my stuff, but a lot of it I think it’s finally time to let go of. And, since we are moving, this will be the perfect time to pair things down.
  22. Blog weekly. I know what you’re thinking, wow that’s a pathetic goal. But, it’s a lofty goal for me! Blogging is something I love, but with life being so busy, often gets pushed to the back burner. This will make me keep it front and center.
  23. Learn Lightroom. This would be fairly simple. I already use photoshop for everything and I’m pretty comfortable with the program. But, I spend a lot of time editing. I also use bridge, but the interface is lacking. I think Lightroom would speed up my editing process.
  24. Workout 3-5x/week. Tom and I are already pretty good about this, but I tend to fall off the workout bandwagon in the winter months and would like to keep it up.
  25. Create a marketing video. This is business related, but I have really wanted to create a marketing video for my real estate business but never taken the plunge.
  26. Come up with my 30 beyond 30 list to make the most of like in my 30’s!
  27. Do a juice cleanse and write about it! I actually just finished one and loved it, I try to do one a few times/year but I’ve never written about the process.
  28. Unpack and organize my new home. I am so excited about the move you guys, but I also know myself and I hate unpacking. I would like to be completely unpacked, organized, decorated, and set up in the new house by my birthday.
  29. Create a menu plan to share. I really love meal planning, it’s one of the things that helped me lose nearly 70 lbs and keep it off. I would like to get back into serious health mode and help share what I learned on my journey with others.
  30. Polar bear plunge. I don’t know why I want to do this, I hate being cold, but I have always wanted to do this. What’s a better time than now?

What’s on your 30 before 30 or 30 beyond 30 list?

I’ll be 30 next month! This is a great idea. I’m having a hard time thinking of 30 things to do before thirty, and I only have 19 days left!

I have always wanted to throw a dinner party too! Like I’ve had little potlucks and stuff but never a nice sit down fancy meal. I see ideas for them all the time and I’m just gonna have to take the plunge and do it! This holiday season would be the perfect time!

This was a really great list of things to do! I think all of them are really great ideas to try out (except maybe the polar plunge) I definitely could not do that one, haha. Other than that, great list! I hope you get to do all of them before you turn 30 🙂

I always think I’m going to make a bucket list like this but never seem to. Your chances of accomplishing all of these things increased dramatically just by having written (and shared) them!

I love this concept so much! There is plenty that I want to achieve before I turn 30, and I love your list you created here. Polar plunges and volunteering are my favorites.

Have fun with that yoga. I have been practicing semi-daily and enjoy the changes I see in my body and throughout the day.

All of these things sound so fun. I would love a cooking class. I took one about 10 years ago with wine pairings and it was great.

I have been dying to attend one but they’re just more money then I want to pay. Also, I want to learn how to use Lightroom! I heard it’s so much better than other programs out there and I would love to learn more about it to make my blog pictures better. What a fun list!

Great list. You definitely have a lot to pack into 6 months. I haven’t made my list but there are some travel sites on there that I would like to visit. And I know I’ve said, “I’ve always wanted to,” yet I forget to write it down. Need to start compiling that list.

What a fun list! The polar bear plunge has always been intriguing to me too! Make sure you do it to support a cause so it’s more than just jumping in cold water.

I love this idea. I turn 30 in a few months and told myself that I was going to make a list but never got around to it. I was going to write take a class on the list as well. I wanted to take a creative writing or a sewing class. I wish I had made a list and crossed some things off, so I really hope you stick to yours! It’ll be so worth it. Good luck
