Anyone else have 30 sneak up on them? I have less than 6 months in my 20’s! How did that happen?! I want to make sure I make the most that remaining time, and since I’m an A-Type personality a 30 before 30 list seemed like the perfect way to accomplish that. Anyone else get immense satisfaction from checking things off a list? I’ve been known to add things onto lists that I’ve already done, just so I can check them off again! Please tell me I’m not the only one! I actually started this list a few weeks ago and have already accomplished one or two.
- Plan a vacation. Like, an actual vacation, not a visiting family vacation or a working vacation or a weekend getaway, but a real, actual vacation. I can’t even remember the last time I did that.
- Take a cooking class. This is something I’ve always wanted to do and never have.
- Have a dinner party. I haven’t announced this yet but, we are moving in a few weeks! Our last home, was so lovely and I really enjoyed my couple years living there, but it was awful for entertaining. Our new home is perfect for entertaining and I want to throw a bash!
- Run a 5K. I ran one last year and loved it but haven’t run one since!
- Max out my IRA for the year. Because, you know, responsibilities.
- Night out in Seattle. We live a couple hours north of Seattle so we don’t get down there too often. I want a night out, with dinner, drinks, and exploring.
- Plan my 30th birthday party! I haven’t done much for my birthday the past few years. This year, I want to have a bash.
- Hike Oyster Dome. This is a gorgeous but strenuous hike near us up a mountain. The one and only time I’ve done it, we got to the top, and it was so foggy we couldn’t see anything. I want to see the sights!
- Volunteer. This is something I’m passionate about but have been really slacking on.
- Go to a football game. Doesn’t matter what level, NFL, college, high school. I just want to go to an actual game this season.
- Take a class. I don’t know in what yet, but I love all the community education available, and I want to take a class!
- Start doing yoga. I have always wanted to try my hand at yoga, and have never taken the plunge.
- Girl’s brunch! It’s been 6 months since I went to brunch and probably a year the time before that. So, I’m due for girl talk, champagne, and delicious food.
- Host a holiday party. This is a level of adult that I have not reached yet.
- Finish 2 books. Now, you real bookworms will laugh at this, but I’m so busy that I feel like I never get to read as much as I would like. Example, I have been reading the same book for months and I’m barely halfway through it.
- Get eyelash extensions, just because. I’ve never had them but think it would be fun to treat myself.
- Visit Leavenworth during the holidays. This is a sweet Bavarian town up in the mountains that I’ve always wanted to visit during the holiday season.
- Buy a gym membership… again. The summers are so beautiful here in the Pacific Northwest that I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible hiking, running, or just exercising outdoors. So, I pretty much always let my gym membership lapse. Now is the time of year I need to renew it.
- Knit something. Well, really, I want to finish knitting a scarf! You guys, this is embarrassing, but I have been knitting a scarf for years. YEARS! It’s a big scarf with thin yarn and smaller needles, but still, that’s ridiculous.
- Write 3 handwritten notes/week. I think handwritten notes are so wonderful to give and receive.
- Purge! I have so much stuff, and I love my stuff, but a lot of it I think it’s finally time to let go of. And, since we are moving, this will be the perfect time to pair things down.
- Blog weekly. I know what you’re thinking, wow that’s a pathetic goal. But, it’s a lofty goal for me! Blogging is something I love, but with life being so busy, often gets pushed to the back burner. This will make me keep it front and center.
- Learn Lightroom. This would be fairly simple. I already use photoshop for everything and I’m pretty comfortable with the program. But, I spend a lot of time editing. I also use bridge, but the interface is lacking. I think Lightroom would speed up my editing process.
- Workout 3-5x/week. Tom and I are already pretty good about this, but I tend to fall off the workout bandwagon in the winter months and would like to keep it up.
- Create a marketing video. This is business related, but I have really wanted to create a marketing video for my real estate business but never taken the plunge.
- Come up with my 30 beyond 30 list to make the most of like in my 30’s!
- Do a juice cleanse and write about it! I actually just finished one and loved it, I try to do one a few times/year but I’ve never written about the process.
- Unpack and organize my new home. I am so excited about the move you guys, but I also know myself and I hate unpacking. I would like to be completely unpacked, organized, decorated, and set up in the new house by my birthday.
- Create a menu plan to share. I really love meal planning, it’s one of the things that helped me lose nearly 70 lbs and keep it off. I would like to get back into serious health mode and help share what I learned on my journey with others.
- Polar bear plunge. I don’t know why I want to do this, I hate being cold, but I have always wanted to do this. What’s a better time than now?
What’s on your 30 before 30 or 30 beyond 30 list?
Omg i need to read more too! I am about 5 months from my 30s and I am ashamed to say I haven’t read a book in YEARS! I am listening to an audio book now, if that counts haha
I’ll be 30 next month! This is a great idea. I’m having a hard time thinking of 30 things to do before thirty, and I only have 19 days left!
Ok so I knew there was a Leavenworth, Washington but I got a little excited when you said you wanted to visit haha come to this Leavenworth!!! 🙂
Sooo like I said in my email, I swear I was writing mine simultaneous to yours, but holy moly, we have so many that are the same… I guess that’s just what happens at 29 😉 I love your idea for a 30 beyond 30 list as well as learning lightroom!
Meg, Borrowed Heaven
I have always wanted to throw a dinner party too! Like I’ve had little potlucks and stuff but never a nice sit down fancy meal. I see ideas for them all the time and I’m just gonna have to take the plunge and do it! This holiday season would be the perfect time!

I did a lot of these things before I turned 30. Guess I need a 40 before 40 list!
This was a really great list of things to do! I think all of them are really great ideas to try out (except maybe the polar plunge) I definitely could not do that one, haha. Other than that, great list! I hope you get to do all of them before you turn 30 🙂
I always think I’m going to make a bucket list like this but never seem to. Your chances of accomplishing all of these things increased dramatically just by having written (and shared) them!
It sounds like you have a lot of great stuff in your near future. I love the idea of making a to-do list like this.
I love this concept so much! There is plenty that I want to achieve before I turn 30, and I love your list you created here. Polar plunges and volunteering are my favorites.
I love bucket lists and goals!
Have fun with that yoga. I have been practicing semi-daily and enjoy the changes I see in my body and throughout the day.
All of these things sound so fun. I would love a cooking class. I took one about 10 years ago with wine pairings and it was great.
Well, I could do this for my 40th I guess. I’m way past 30! Great ideas! I would love to go to Seattle~
I wish I was 30 but you have made a great list of things to accomplish. Hopefully you will get them all done in time. I love the dinner party, notes and hiking.
That’s exactly how I felt when I was about to turn 30! It’s good to have a bucket list to make it more fun and exciting. I hope you finish all of these before your birthday comes up!
So many great goals! So much to do in 6 months!

What a great list! I do one every year and it’s fun to mark things off.
I am type-A as well and I LOVE checking things of the list. So you’re definitely not alone! There’s so many thing on this list that I want to do as well! Like take a cooking class! I have been dying to attend one but they’re just more money then I want to pay. Also, I want to learn how to use Lightroom! I heard it’s so much better than other programs out there and I would love to learn more about it to make my blog pictures better. What a fun list!
Wow! 30 things in 6 months! Good luck! There are some great goals in here.
That is quite the list you have there. It will make for a very fun and momentous 30th birthday, that is for sure.
Great list. You definitely have a lot to pack into 6 months. I haven’t made my list but there are some travel sites on there that I would like to visit. And I know I’ve said, “I’ve always wanted to,” yet I forget to write it down. Need to start compiling that list.
What a fun list! The polar bear plunge has always been intriguing to me too! Make sure you do it to support a cause so it’s more than just jumping in cold water.
What a great list. I need to get busy and cross some of these off! Then on to the next list, 40 before 40! Ok, not so ready to compile that one!
I love this. I wish I made a 30 before 30 list before turning 30. Maybe I’ll do a 40. I think it’s such a fun idea!
I love this idea. I turn 30 in a few months and told myself that I was going to make a list but never got around to it. I was going to write take a class on the list as well. I wanted to take a creative writing or a sewing class. I wish I had made a list and crossed some things off, so I really hope you stick to yours! It’ll be so worth it. Good luck
These are some great goals to have before hitting the 30 mark. I wish I would have done a list like this!
30 snuck up on me really fast…and now I’m 31! LOL. Love lists!
Love the list! Do the Lightroom and juice cleanse so I can ready a tutorial on them. 😛
