I say this every year, but this really was the best year ever!
Yes, not all goals were met. I am not yet independently wealthy, traveling the world. Shocking, I know. But, let’s take a look back down memory lane at some of the best moments of 2018.
I turned 30! Honestly, I was a little freaked out about it. True story, I cried on my 15th birthday because I was halfway to 30. But, what silly 15 year old Jane didn’t know was that 30 is basically the best ever. I got comfortable in my own skin in a way I have never been before. While, I still do care way too much what other people think, it’s nowhere near what it use to be. 30 is the new black. Why is 30 so great? You’re more stable in your career, #bestyearever, have some more disposable income which for me, meant more trips! Really though, turning 30 was the best. We celebrated with family, before taking a trip to Vancouver, Canada. I finally bought myself a new car, this was seriously nearly a decade in the making, and long overdue.
Trips! The handsome hunk and I went on so many good trips! We went to Portland, Oregon for his birthday where we played at Top Golf, and stayed in the coolest antique hotel and barhopped all over town. Then, of course there was my birthday weekend in Vancouver, BC. Which was a total blast. It had been about 14 years since my last trip to Vancouver, so exploring as an adult was incredible. We ate amazing curry, saw the sights, stayed right downtown so we could enjoy the nightlife, and of course, got out to explore nature. When my brother moved to Portland, of course we had to go back! We spent a long weekend in the summer walking the streets and learning every street in the Pearl District. Including the best taco bar in the world. Seriously, the pork belly tacos are to die for. I had a women’s getaway weekend with my mom and sister in the mountains. Tom went on a couple Navy sponsored work trips. We went to Leavenworth, the cutest Bavarian town. Explored Seattle. Deep sea fished off of Westport, WA. Just recently got back from a trip to Indiana. Of course there was Alaska. And, my beautiful sister got married, and I was lucky enough to be her maid of honor.
The biggest and best thing about 2018 was getting engaged! I’ve written an entire post about the proposal. But, to sum it up, it was perfect. He put so much effort and thought into making it the perfect day for us. And, I still get butterflies and giddy every time I look down at the rock on my finger. We got engaged at Mt Denali, while on an epic adventure. It was, without a doubt the best day, and the best trip of my life. The rest of the trip was spent riding ATVs, deep sea fishing, eating Moose’s Tooth Pizza, hiking every glacier we came across, float plane tours, and just having the best time of our lives. Would you like an itinerary of our time?
And, here are some more of my favorite 2018 moments.
