Last summer my husband and I spent our anniversary in the most charming little town of Leavenworth. A little Bavarian themed town two hours outside of Seattle. To make the most of our time in Leavenworth we chose to stay at the casually elegant Abendblume B&B, an upscale Bavarian themed B&B that is sure to delight. From the grounds that from the moment walking through the gate you feel like you’ve been transported to a magical fairytale in a book, to the rooms that make you feel like nobility summering in the countryside, Abendblume is a perfect for a retreat to relax or a romantic getaway.
You start your day with a fresh homemade breakfast being served in the cozy breakfast room. We learned all about the wonderful world of Aebleskivers, trust me, you’re just going to have to experience them for yourselves.
Taking a stroll into town was next on the agenda, a nice one mile walk into the heart of town. We played a round of golf, went wine tasting and dipped our toes in the icy cold river before having a nice dinner and walking off some of that wine and food on the way back.
We watched the sunset over the mountains from our private balcony covered in trailing flowers with a slice of cake from the kitchen. That evening we decided to take a dip in the hot tub on the patio garden with a view of the valley. It’s not a private hot tub, so you may be joined by other guests, but with the small intimate nature of Abendblume B&B we had it to ourselves before turning ourselves in for the night.
The rooms themselves are worth spending time in. The cozy atmosphere is elegant while still feeling very relaxed. A reading nook with a big window overlooking a herd of horses had my attention from the moment we walked in. In cooler months, the large fireplace would be the perfect spot to cuddle up and play a board game. And the beds. Beds are important at a B&B and these are the kinds of beds that make you feel like you are starring in your own mattress commercial where you slowly fall into the lush bed, and the moment your head hits the pillow you are lulled off to sleep with dreams of sugar plums.
We had a short stay at Abendblume B&B and will absolutely come back, and stay for a long visit as well. To check out Abendblume B&B in Leavenworth and book your own getaway check out their site here.
Fair Winds,
Jane
