Wedding season is upon us! And you know what that means, lots of trips to see your
lovely friends and family tie the knot. But it always boils down to, “can I fit everything in
a carry-on?”
As luggage fees get more and more expensive, maximizing your carry-on becomes
more and more appealing. I would rather spend $100 on drinks at the beach during my
vacation than lugging a large suitcase through the airport. So over the years I have
perfected the art of the carry-on packing list – especially during wedding season.
I’ve tried every possible method of packing and recently I am swearing by the
combination of rolling with packing cubes! It not only helps you maximize space, but it
also helps you stay organized when living out of a suitcase for a week. Besides, they
come in fun colors!
Since my fiancé, aka The Handsome Hunk, hails from the great state of Florida, we end
up traveling for tropical weddings frequently. And there is nothing better than dresses
and beach days. However, wearing a different dress every day means that you really
need to maximize space in your carry on.
So let’s take a look at the carry on packing list!
Carry On Packing List
5 Dresses
1 2 Piece Dress/Skirt
1 Pair of Leggings
1 T-Shirt
1 Wrap
2 Hats
1 Pair of Heels
1 Pair of Sandals
1 Pair of Sneakers
1 Pair of Beach Shoes
2 Swimsuits
1 Cover Up
1 Pair of Shorts
1 Crossbody Bag
1 Clutch
Jewelry
Wow, that seems like a lot! But, with the packing cubes, and rolling method I was able
to fit all of this in my carry on, and personal item. Part of the trick is to wear your bulkiest
things. As my personal item, I always carry my Longchamp bag which can fit the hats as
well as purses. Leaving the carry on for the clothes and shoes!

First up, you want to lay out everything you’ll be bringing. Being organized and having it
all laid out before packing will make the packing process much easier. You will stay
organized on your trip if things are packed together in a logical way and aren’t thrown in
haphazardly. After that, put aside what you’ll be wearing on the plane. For me this is
leggings, sneakers, a wrap and t-shirt. The wrap is great because it keeps you warm on
the plane, and goes with dresses as another layer to keep you warm in the evenings.

Next up, it’s time to pack! I swear by the rolling method. You can fit so much more in a
space rolling your clothing than you can with the traditional folding method. I used the
large packing cube for dresses. The medium packing cube for all other clothing,
underwear and jewelry tucked in for protection. And, then the two small cubes for
shoes. Lastly, add your hats and purses into your personal item.

Moment of truth… does it all fit? Like a glove! Not only do the packing cubes help you
stay organized the whole trip, these cubes fit perfectly in a carry on. So if it fits in the
cubes, it fits in your carry on.

Stand back and look at your handiwork, then get to planning where you’ll be sipping
your first cocktail upon landing. There you have it, your carry-on packing checklist for a
week in Florida with a wedding!

You’re an awesome packer! I don’t think I have ever fit so much in a carry on, but I am going on a trip soon and I am going to try! Thanks for the inspiration!

I really need to invest in packing cubes! They look so convenient, especially during the trip. I usually end up with a mess in my suitcase. Haha.
