I wanted to give a little life update on life lately.
Reopening
Those west coast sunsets! Swoon!
It finally feels like summer is here in the Pacific Northwest. The sun has been peeking out a little more and getting a little warmer. And, Washington is slowly starting to open back up. Very slowly. We have watched other states rush to reopen, and we are finally starting to get there too.
We entered phase 2 of reopening a little over a week ago. We aren’t rushing back out, but want to support our local economy. We had a drink on a rooftop bar last weekend, and dinner. It was lovely, the view was over looking the water, we watched the boats come and go.
Garden
I’m a farmer! Trellis Tom built
One of our quarantine projects has been gardening. We have a few cut flowers growing, that I am hoping will be blooming next month. And, even more exciting, this is our first year trying our hand at a vegetable garden. We have herbs in pots on our back deck, right outside the kitchen. And, we designated a small area to grow onions, leeks, cabbage, spinach, peas, peppers and summer squash. The spinach has already been decimated by the bunnies with not much hope of making a comeback. Summers here are cooler than a lot of places, so the garden hasn’t done much yet. But, the other day, I went to go weed and check on everything, and there it was! My first sugar snap pea! I am officially a farmer!
Speaking of peas, Tom, or more commonly known around here as The Handsome Hunk welded me a custom trellis for the peas with a giant leaf and I absolutely love it!
Boating

Tom, I & my family are all big boaters. We have two boats. One small boat we take out on small fishing trips and crabbing. And, a bigger boat we all go out on over weekends to explore the area and go island hopping. So far this year, we haven’t done a whole lot of boating. We have spent quite a bit of time on the boat, but it’s mostly been working on the never ending list of things that need fixing and tweaking. Okay, it has been Tom working, and me handing him whatever tool he needs and crack open the wine when he’s done.
House Projects
We have been working on some house projects that I cannot wait to share with you all! Think misty blues, shiplap, and horseshoes. Stay tuned!
Healthy Living – Eating & Exercising
Lettuce wrap burgers with avocado, cucumber & tomato salad
I’ll own it, I used Covid as a reason to bake too much, eat too much, drink too much, and not exercise enough. And, I have been feeling it. Tired, bloated, and not feeling my best self. Not good! So, I decided to get back on track with our eating and workouts. I started using the app Runkeeper to start running again. And, I love it! I’ve used quite a few running apps and this is my favorite so far, by a lot! Great coaching in the app, easy to use, and it just works! Also jumped back on healthy eating, cutting out sugar, alcohol, dairy and processed carbs, for the most part. Weekends I let up a little, but not going out of control. I’ll be sharing our weekly menus and meals over on Instagram stories.

I need to start making summer salads. I feel like it’s such a commitment with buying ingredients. I do have a few I love saved on Pinterest.
I miss western sunsets!

Are people in your state wearing masks still when they go out? I’ve seen sooo many people without them here and I think that’s a huge, huge mistake!
