It’s been nearly a month since I’ve written a post. It’s funny, when I’m not writing, I crave it. I have ideas and inspiration running through my head. But, life just gets in the way. It’s been a very busy month.
Some of you may know that my day job is in real estate. Summer is the busy season, and that means lots of late nights and weekends. Then, it’s summer in the Pacific Northwest, which I often mention on my Instagram, is the most magical time of year. And, so we’ve been busy living and loving life. Here’s what we’ve been up to.
Wedding
My sister got married! We loved every moment of celebrating her, and her new husband’s love. They are the sweetest couple, and of course, their wedding weekend oozed fun and love.
I, as the maid of honor, along with the best man, hosted a field day the day before the wedding so all the friends and family members could get to know each other. My sister, Hayley, is from Washington with family spread all over the country. And, her husband hails from Texas by way of Indiana, so most of the friends and family didn’t know each other. We had everyone from 6 year old cousins to 80 year old grandmas playing tug-o-war, dizzy bats, and capture the flag. It was a blast! If you can build a field day into your wedding plans, do it!
The actual wedding was beautiful. They worked so hard to make it laid back, DIY, and so them. Dancing and drinking lasted all day. Plus, I had the most amazing dress! Once pictures come back I’ll be writing all about the magical day.
Note on the dress, reviews said to size up. I ended up sizing up twice. I’m a size 4, which is usually a small, but sometimes a medium. I was also blessed, and cursed, with some serious curves. So I decided to go with a size large. The medium fit in the waist, but I was more comfortable with the size large on my chest. A few years ago, this would have seriously upset me. I cared what the tag said, so I never would have purchased a large, even though the label really doesn’t have anything to do with my actual physical size. All companies have different sizing, and sometimes (cough cough, a lot of the time) companies don’t take into account curves. So, while my waist may be one size, like in the case of this dress, my chest put me in a different size. Obviously a size 4 isn’t a large, and I’m glad that I’m at a place now where I care less what the tag says, and more how my body feels.
Family Vacay
The handsome hunk’s family came to town! It was the first time his father and wife have come to Washington, so of course, we had to pack in every possible Pacific Northwest-y thing to do. We went tuna fishing 50 miles offshore. I got a little seasick, but ended up with the second biggest fish of the day! A 32 pounder! I still have the bruises from reeling the fish in nearly two weeks later. Toured the Space Needle, and Pike Place Market. Went camping in the mountains. Stayed in a Bavarian themed village. Boated, fished, went crabbing, drank too much, ate way too much, and golfed until I wasn’t horrible. Okay, that is a lie, I am still horrible.
It was jam packed fun, much of it without an internet connection. Which was just what the doctor ordered.
Getting Ready for Alaska!
And now, we are getting ready for Alaska! I’m researching, packing, and getting last minute affairs in order for our trip to Alaska. I’ve never been, and Tom has only been for work. So, we are ready to try everything that the Frontier State has to offer. Have you been to Alaska? What are your must see/stay/eat spots?
What have you been up to lately?

Ahh, Alaska! I’m so excited for y’all. I would absolutely recommend trying the in-house root beers. I tried one at every single restaurant we went to, and they were all amazing.
