This spring came along and turned everything upside down. Obviously, a lot of bad things came along with that, and while I don’t make light of them, I try to be a silver lining kind of person. And, with all these huge, life altering changes, came some clarity.
Once I was stuck at home the majority of my days, it made me realize how much less we can live with. I’ve been thinking about how many people are struggling financially right now. Even those who are lucky enough to still be working are worried about their investment accounts. No one wants to go shopping when they are stressed about money. And, since we are home, we also don’t have much to dress up for. All of this, got me thinking about a few things.
First off, I want to get dressed up. I love pj days as much as the next gal, but getting dressed in the morning makes me feel better about myself.
And secondly, with all the financial insecurity going on, and not knowing what our investments will look like when this is all said and done, I don’t want to spend as much money as I normally do on clothes.
Which made me give a good hard look at my own closet. I realized how many treasures I had buried in there. I want to fall back in love with my closet again. Which prompted the Love Your Closet Challenge!
Here are the deets:
Each month I will choose an item, one that most people will have in their closet, and the challenge is to wear it once a week for an entire month, creating completely different outfits with it, and help you fall back in love with what you already own.
Since you’ll be creating different and unique outfits with the same item, it will also help get out of a rut with wondering what the heck do I wear this with? I know in my own closet I have this one cardigan that goes great with one specific top. So, whenever I wear that cardigan, I only wear it with that top. I’m not getting the best use out of my own closet. I should be using it to make multiple outfits instead of just one.
At the beginning of each month, I will share the item of the month with you. And, I will show you my plan for my 4 outfits. You can use them as inspiration for yourself, or create your own outfits.
Then at the end of the month I will do a recap of all my outfits with the chosen monthly item. And, encourage you to do the same.
I’ll be giving sneak peeks along the way on Instagram. Be sure to share your looks on Instagram too with the hashtag #LoveYourClosetChallenge!
This month for the Love Your Closet Challenge, I chose a denim jacket. I was actually considering going out and purchasing *another* denim jacket, even though I own multiple already. How ridiculous is that? So, I wanted to fall back in love with what I already had.
Since most people own a denim jacket already, I thought it would be the perfect kick start to the challenge! It’s a perfect layer for late spring, where weather changes on you constantly. And, it’s easy to pair with just about a bazillion different outfits.
Are you joining in on the Love Your Closet Challenge? What items of clothing would you like to see in future months?

Yes! I love the outfits you’ve put together here! You have a great eye! I have gingham shorts similar to that and never thought of doing a navy blue tank top for some reason. I was always paring it with a white top!

I really love this idea; though, I am not a jean jacket person. I want to be, but I find them really uncomfortable?
