I think we all have at least one friend right now who is having a hard time with the coronavirus, aka Covid-19, pandemic. Maybe we have a bunch of friends having a hard time. Maybe it’s our grandma in isolation. Or a friend who is immune compromised. Maybe a family member has lost a job. Whether it’s due to anxiety, stress, health, or job loss, there are a lot of people dealing with a lot of big emotions right now.
While, we may not be able to fix things for our loved one, I do believe in the power of something small being able to make a big difference to someone. I am a gift giver, it’s my love language, and in a time of celebration, or crisis, my mind always goes to gifts.
When people are stressed and anxious, often the last thing they do is take care of themselves. Which of course, is the number one thing they should be doing.
And, that’s why I love the idea of a self care box! It’s a gift box full of things that will promote self care, and taking time to focus on themselves, instead of what’s going on in the world around them.
And, if it’s you that needs a little pick me up, a gift to yourself is maybe just what you need!
What should go into a self care gift box? Here are some ideas!
- Cards
- Candle
- Face Mask
- Sleep Mask
- Nail Polish
- Press on Nails
- Facial Spritzer
- Self Tanner
- Lotion
- Book (Bonus points for passing along a book you read and loved!)
- Workout Bands
- Journal (I LOVE this 5 year, line a day diary)
- Essential Oil
- Markers or Colored Pencils
- Coloring Book
- Scarf
- Needlepoint Kit
- Mini Champagne
- Instant Coffee
- Mug
- Bath Bomb
- Mug Cake Mix
- Lip Balm
- Body Scrub
- Chocolate
- Tea
- Small Decor Item (These homebody coasters feel very relevant)
- Jade Roller
- Table Topics
A note on this: I know a lot of people are feeling financially insecure right now due to the unknown and finances may be tight due to a lost job, or lost hours. Not to mention, oh yeah, hey, this is a pandemic going on out there and maybe you don’t want to be out and about shopping for all these items. This does not have to be expensive. In fact, I bet if you look around your own home, you may be able to find many of the things on this list already on your shelves! I always have an unused candle or two laying around. It’s the thought that counts, not how much you spent. And, I think passing on a book you loved is incredibly thoughtful!
What would you include in a self care gift box?
