I’ve always said, Date Night is my favorite night of the week. Life gets so busy for everyone. It steams along at a staggering pace. One minute it’s January and the next thing you know it’s almost June. (As a side note, seriously though, where did half the year go?!) For myself, it’s not unusual for Tom or I to work 7 days/week. Once you add in your husband, kids, family, friends, pets, a career, and hobbies, it’s a wonder how people these days aren’t all in insane asylums from driving themselves crazy with the amount of work that goes into just getting by! We all have hectic lives and it’s important to us to carve out time in our schedules for the people who mean the most to us. For me, that means regular date nights. The summers go by so fast, and there are so many wonderful summer date night ideas! Here are a few must trys:
Drive In Movie
One of my favorite summer date night ideas is to go to a drive in movie! It’s a fun and retro date night that allows you to not only catch a great flick, but partake in a little PDA, in the privacy of your own car. Smooches at the movie theater might be looked down on, but smooches at the drive in are a whole other story. The drive in movie theater by me not only has double features all summer long, but also has a go-kart track and an arcade to make a whole evening of it. We will get there a little early to snag a good parking spot and then take each other on in a friendly game of skee ball.
Festival

Anacortes Waterfront Festival
It doesn’t matter what kind of festival, just go to one with each other. There are so many festivals all summer long, so no matter what your interests are, chances are there is a festival for you. Country music, beer, tacos, sailboats, the arts, tulips, the list of festivals is endless! It’s easy to find a semi-local festival or even make a weekend of it and travel to one further away. The only guarantee is you’ll both have a blast.
Day Road Trip
Taking a day trip, just because, is a great way to spend some quality time together. We almost all have some place, or places, that are close by that we just have never been to. We say we are going to go, and then life happens and, 5 years later we still haven’t visited X, Y or Z. Write them down, (I am a huge believer in writing things down), make a list, plan a day and go. Book yourself for the day. Turn down other last minute things that come up, and commit yourself to spending the time together and actually going to see the world’s largest ball of yarn, that national park, or even a restaurant you saw on your favorite travel show.
Baseball Game

Mariner’s Baseball Game
Is there anything more quintessentially summer than a good ole fashioned baseball game? They make great date nights! Not to mention that the man in your life will be ecstatic to go on this date! You’re welcome fellas. It’s a fun trip into the city, full of a stadium cheering together, drinking beer and eating hotdogs. It’s one of Tom’s favorite summer date night ideas, and I always have a blast.
Outdoor Wine/Beer Tasting
Summers are too short, it’s a fact, and I for one, want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Another fact, I also, want to try as much wine as possible. How does one join these two together? A fun summer date night idea is to put together a wine or beer tasting. You can always go to your favorite spots, but if the babysitter cancelled or you’re trying to make your budget go further a backyard tasting is an easy, fun, and dollar friendly summer date night idea that you both will love. Grab a few new bottles of wine or beer you haven’t tried before along with some cheese and crackers while you’re at the store. Make it official by taking notes of your favorites or just enjoy the time together.
In the summers I love pairing a casual flowy dress with a great statement bag and a pair of fun shoes! What’s your go to date night outfit?
