We are back with another episode of The Picnic Chronicles!
I shared a few weeks ago about my love of picnics. Especially during this time, many states, including my own, are still closed. But, even with everything closed, you want to have a fun date night or family dinner. And, even when things are open, picnics are such a fun and nostalgic way to share a meal. It reminds me of old photographs from our grandparent’s generation.
I wanted to have a classic, backyard picnic with the handsome hunk last weekend for date night at home. We brought out an old quilt, one my mother handmade for me when I was a baby. Packed everything up and headed out into the backyard, with the pups of course, to enjoy a lovely night at home.

Slice the croissants beforehand to make sandwiches when you’re ready to eat them. I didn’t make the sandwiches ahead of time for a few reasons. It’s a fun picnic activity to make things as you’re eating them. It gives everyone the ability to customize their sandwich just how they like it. And, It also prevents any sogginess from happening. No soggy sandwich club!
Now, do you need chocolate covered strawberries AND creme brûlée? Probably not, but also, why not? It was date night and anything goes on date night. That’s why we workout, right?
I couldn’t find my exact soft sided picnic basket online anymore, but this one is very similar. I love this picnic basket because, it’s insulated inside! So, you don’t have to worry about your dishes getting too hot in the summer, or too cold in the winter.
What are some of your favorite dishes for picnics or places to go for picnics?
