I don’t want to say we’ve been stuck at home, because current events make me realize how lucky I am to have a beautiful home, filled with love, a supportive partner, enough food to eat, snuggly puppies, a backyard, disinfecting cleaner, and toilet paper. Especially the toilet paper! I will just file that under things I never thought I would say until 2020!
While the pandemic has made me acutely aware of how lucky I am, and how grateful I am, it still can get a little stale doing the same thing every day. Staying at home. It can feel like you’re in a rut. Especially when there is some level of fear or anxiety associated with leaving the house for essentials.
It left us trying to find new ways to make fun at home. And, one of the best things we have implemented is weekly backyard fire pit nights.
We bought our home two years ago. And, we have had big plans for our backyard since the start. The first year, we put up the fence, and did some very, not fun, unglamorous work under the house to help prevent water damage from happening. And, then the next year, we were getting married! So, big projects got put on a hold in lieu of wedding projects.
This year we were planning on getting started with those big backyard projects. But, the unknown of Covid-19 and shutdowns have made that a little up in the air. So, we will be working on our garden. Planting a vegetable garden. And, possibly we will get our backyard plans underway this year, and maybe it will end up waiting for another year.
But, nonetheless, with the weather starting to get nicer, we want to get out and enjoy the outdoors. With stay at home orders in affect, that means, from the backyard!
My parents bought this fire pit for us which we absolutely love. Since we don’t have a permanent spot for it, yet, we make sure to have it up off the ground. The first time we didn’t do this, and killed our grass. Of course, this means we keep an extra close eye on it, and don’t ever leave it unattended.
We love sitting in our Adirondack chairs, by the fire, watching the sunset, sipping wine. I’ve been working on a needlepoint project for my sister, who just had her first baby.
How are you enjoying spring?

We haven’t done this yet, but we need too! And roast marshmallows!

I saw this post on your Insta stories and immediately thought a fire pit is such a great idea! I’m fairly certain it’s something our dog can’t destroy 😉 It will be the summer of the fire pit!
