I’ve been talking a lot with friends, virtually, of course, due to coronavirus, aka Covid-19, and a reoccurring theme of these conversations is that people are financially feeling uneasy. A lot of people have lost their jobs in the past few weeks due to the unknown of this virus. I am not a fan of fear mongering, but I do know that a lot of people are at least starting to think about other ways to make money.
And, even when there isn’t a worldwide pandemic, people are often looking for unique and easy ways to make money from home.
I believe that we will recover from this, both physically, and economically, but in the meantime, it is leaving people with stress and anxiety. Personally, it helps me to deal with stress head on, to get a grip on my emotions and do something about it.
So, if you are feeling the pinch, and looking for unique and easy ways to make some money from home. Let’s take a look…
Unique and Easy Ways to Make Money from home
Poshmark
We all have perfectly good, lightly used, or perhaps even new clothes, and housewares that are sitting in the back of closets, not being used. That sweater really isn’t the right color green for your skin tone. Or those shorts you bought in a size too small for inspiration are looking more and more unlikely as the amount of stress eating increases. Right there with ya! So, why not sell them? Since less people will be purchasing full priced items, selling your gently used items on Poshmark could be a great way to turn what you already have into cash.
ThredUp
If you are busy working from home, or finding yourself a new teacher to homeschooled kids, and the thought of taking pictures, creating listings, uploading them on Poshmark, and mailing out orders might be too much. If you want to sell your gently used clothing items, but don’t want the work involved, you can request a bag from ThredUp. They will send you a pre-addressed bag for you to load up your clothes into and send back to them. Where they will sort through it and cut you a check! Warning, you will get far less money this way than doing all the work yourself, and if you disagree with ThredUp’s prices you don’t have the opportunity to say no. But, if you are already overworked, someone else doing all the work for you might be the perfect solution.
Start a Blog
Before I start this, I will say, starting a blog is not the way to fast money. However, if you have something to teach the world, starting your own website is a great way to produce extra income. If you have expertise in a specific field, niche blogs, can produce income in various different ways, like sponsored post, affiliate sales, ads, ebooks, and courses. A lot of people are finding themselves with extra time on their hands right now, which could be the perfect time to start a blog!
Teach English Online
This is not something I personally have done, however, my good friend Dana, has and she has several posts on the subject, such as her VPKID review. Basically, the short version is you can teach English online to kids in other countries, right from the comfort of your own home. There are a few requirements, so check it out and see if it is a good fit for you!
Freelance
If you have a skill, such as writing, graphic design, or technical expertise, you could freelance those skills online. You can utilize those skills and freelance from home. People are always looking to hire out those parts of their businesses.
Etsy Shop
If your skills are more in line with creating physical, or digital products, you could also start an Etsy shop. Etsy is great because the startup costs are very low. You don’t need to create your own website, and you pay Etsy as part of the sales you make. You can use free social media channels to promote your products. Making Etsy a great, low cost, way of starting your own business and making money from home.
Virtual Assistant
Large blogs, instagram influencers, and media personalities often utilize virtual assistants to help them run their websites, respond to inquiries, and stay on top of the million daily tasks that are part of running an online platform. This is a job you can do from home and is a unique way of making money.
Deliver for Amazon
While many companies are struggling and laying people off during this time, Amazon, has been hiring! If you work near an Amazon location, you may even be able to secure employment at an Amazon hub. But, another option to look into is delivering for Amazon. In recent years Amazon has started using everyday people, with their own vehicles, to deliver Amazon packages.
Stock Photography
If you are a photography buff, you may start thinking about selling your photography. There are numerous different ways to go about it. You could sell the prints themselves, or another option to look into is selling your digital images as stock photography. Think about every website you have ever been to, most of the time, the people building the site don’t have the time or resources to go take their own photos. So they utilize stock photography.

Great reminders and tips! So funny you mentioned teaching English because I just sent that job listing to my sister this week. I was passing the gas station yesterday and saw a lady parked off to the side selling easter wrapped gift baskets with toys and knick-knacks inside. Not something you see every day….but all things considered, it’s not a bad idea either.
