Wow I can’t believe my wedding was 7 months ago! Time flies! Leading up to my wedding, I knew I wanted to focus on my wedding fitness routine so that I would be happy with the photos I plan on hanging all over our house and sharing with anyone who will look at them forever.
So I needed a wedding day fitness routine!
If you want the quick and dirty version, head on over to my Instagram page and check out my two Wedding Fitness highlights (1 and 2) to show what I ate, and how I worked out every day in the months leading up to my wedding.
I didn’t do anything crazy, I don’t believe in crash diets, that leave you feeling awful and bloated the second you start eating again. So, I made some small changes to both my fitness and eating that gave me big results that I have been able to maintain for 7 months after my wedding as well.
First off, no fitness routine is going to matter if your eating isn’t on point. The time leading up to your wedding can be difficult because there is so much celebrating! And, when we celebrate, we tend to over eat. So, I first focused on my eating.
I lost 15 lbs without starving myself! How?
The Food
First off, I did intermittent fasting. There are people who say that intermittent fasting is the best thing ever and make it sound like the holy grail of fitness. I’ll be honest, I don’t know about all that. But, it did put me on an eating schedule, and eating fewer meals, over fewer hours, makes it easier to hit your calorie goals, without going over.
Second, I tracked everything. While yes, I did try to stay in a 1,200 calorie range, the real magic was just sharing everything on Instagram to hold myself accountable. I shared even when I slipped up.
Third, I ate all whole, healthy foods and skipped the crap! I ate lots of veggies, fruits, some complex carbs, and lean meat. Nothing crazy, just the way we all know we should be eating anyway. I cut out (for the most part) dairy, sugar, alcohol, and processed carbs.
I ate healthy and delicious meals that were satisfying but not overindulgent.
Leading up to my wedding I did a 10 day green smoothie cleanse that had me feeling, and looking my best on my wedding day.

Workouts
Workouts I decided to really mix things up. I did a few different routines to help keep me from getting bored. My main workouts were P90x and hiking!
Living in the Pacific Northwest, summers reign supreme! Winters are long, dark, and rainy, so once the sun comes out, I want to spend as much time as possible outside! So, it’s important to me to incorporate outdoor time into my workout routine. Hiking and walking is also one of the best workouts for fat loss.
Then I mixed that up with strength training. P90x, although old school, is still one of the best home workout routines and really helped me build strength and tone muscles.
I also would find workouts on Pinterest and YouTube when I felt bored and needed to switch things up. If I get bored, I am less likely to stick with something. So, keeping things new and interesting helped me keep on track!
I also didn’t kill myself. I worked out 5 days a week, Monday-Friday. Weekends I was active, out having fun, enjoying the Pacific Northwest, trying to remember to get my steps in. But, didn’t stress about working out on the weekends.
