little black dress, lbd, one dress multiple ways, fashion blog, fashion post, black dress, how to wear a black dress

Every girl loves her little black dress. It took me a long time to find mine. Now, don’t get me wrong, I probably have 5 other black dresses in my closet, but I’ll admit, I play favorites. One of them I go back to again and again. No matter what the occasion, it always seems to work perfectly. If I drop a few pounds it seems to still fit like a glove. And, when it’s, ahem, that time of the month, I’m bloated  and can’t put the cupcake down it still looks great. This week, it’s the latter. Oy vey!

CLASSIC

First up, is the classic, plain Jane, just wear the dress as is. Throw on a great pair of shoes, a great necklace, and since it’s chilly here in the PNW this time of year, tights are a must. This is perfect for a work event, dinner with the parents, or just about anything. There is a reason it’s a classic. In this dress, I love showing off the lace in the back!

CASUAL

Keep the tights, throw on some booties, a funky scarf and a jeans jacket and you have a super casual look that’s perfect for brunch, running around town or a trip to the dog park. Fun fact, this scarf was given to me by a co-worker because she never wore it. I couldn’t possibly love it more and has been my go to scarf ever since she gave it to me. It’s funny how some things work for some people and don’t for others.

DATE NIGHT

Let me tell you, leather jackets are my jam. Throw one on and it’s guaranteed to instantly give you a little edge, not only in your look but your attitude too. As soon as I put one on, I start feeling those bad ass babe vibes. Pair with a cozy blanket scarf and some seriously rockin pumps and I’m ready to take on the world whether it’s karaoke, date night or just hopping around town.

BUSINESS

Lastly, we all eventually have to work. Your go to little black dress is easy to dress up for business meetings or clients with a pair of great shoes and a blazer. And, when all else fails, throw in a cute puppy. They are known to boost any outfit to the next level.

How do you get a lot of use out of the staples in your closet?

All the different stylings look fantastic on you. I can’t pick a favorite – it’s a tie between casual and date night. You rock that leather jacket!
