I did a poll on Instagram way back in January and asked if people liked personal posts. The answer was overwhelmingly YES! But, as you can see, it’s now June. So, what happened between now and then?
Well, sharing personal things is tough!
It’s easy to share with you a recipe that I can’t get enough of or an outfit I love. But, getting personal can be hard. I thought about it though, and that’s something I love about all my favorite blogs. Yes, there are recipes, outfits, travel plans, etc. But, they also show a part of themselves. So, I thought it was probably about time I do the same. So, here are 5 things that are going on in my life right now.
1)
My sister is getting married next month! I am seriously over the moon excited for her and her fiance. They are perfect for each other, and I think the ceremony will be beautiful. They have their own farm, and she is growing all her own flowers for the wedding. Total modern day Martha Stewart! As maid of honor, I got to throw her a bridal shower. We had a floral arranging bridal shower and it was a blast! I suggest this for anyone trying to think of a fun activity for any type of shower. And, in lieu of a traditional bachelorette party, the best man and I are throwing the couple a joint field day party the day before the wedding so everyone can meet each other and have a day of fun before the real festivities.

An open house from a couple weeks ago. Talk about a gorgeous home!

Behind the scenes at a house photoshoot! I was behind a wall holding a door open so the breeze didn’t catch it! Never a dull moment.

We are busy! Like busy, busy, busy! The handsome hunk, aka Tom, as some of you know is in the Navy. His butt looks oh so good in that flight suit! He was recently promoted, so proud of him! And, he is taking on some volunteer opportunities at work, on top of all his normal duties. Then he is a volunteer firefighter, and with that comes lots of training. AND, he also helps me in my business. He is one busy fella! Then for those of you who don’t know, my 9-5 is real estate. But, of course, it’s more like 24/7! I’m extremely blessed to do something that brings joy to people’s lives and I seriously have the world’s best clients.

We just finished painting the interior of the house we bought last fall. It looks so good! I can’t wait to share it with you. We have a few other projects we are working on around the house that I can’t wait to share as well. Including, exterior painting of the house. It is so hard to pick a paint color! Inside, I knew exactly what I wanted. And, I don’t mean just the color family, I mean I knew the exact paint color from the exact company I wanted. And, it turned out to be a dream! Exterior though, we are more open to different colors, but that makes it so much harder to chose! And, the other projects I don’t want to give too much away but a couple involve shiplap and I’m downright giddy over it! Owning your home and being able to make the improvements you want has been such a blast!

We are going on several trips this summer that I’m so excited for. Eastern Washington for my sister’s wedding. It will be hot and glorious! While Western Washington is what people typically think of when they think Washington (ie, rainy, green, mild weather), Eastern Washington is a completely different climate. Eastern Washington is more desert, it is hot and dry. We are also planning on catching a rodeo while over there! Really get into the country spirit! Then Tom’s family comes in town so we will be all over the place showing them all of Western Washington. It’s one of my favorite things to play tourist in the state we live. We rarely take time to do all the fun touristy things that Washington has to offer. And, then we are also planning a trip to Alaska! For Christmas we decided to go on a real vacation. We’ve been on vacation together many times, but it usually involves a trip to visit family. This time we wanted a true, just us, vacation. I’ve never been to Alaska and it’s one of Tom’s favorite places he has traveled for work, but hasn’t gotten the chance to explore.

Date Night! On our way out to dinner & a movie!
5)
Movie Pass. Seriously you guys, do it. This is not sponsored in any way, although if Movie Pass wants to sponsor me, then I’m all for it! We, just love it that much! Last year we went and saw maybe a handful of movie all year. Maybe. This year we have been spending way less money going to way more movies. It’s become a weekly, cheap, date night for us! The gist is, you pay $10/month and you can go see a movie/day. Seriously. No tricks, no gimmicks, nada. Every single theater within an hour drive of me other than the artsy ones takes Movie Pass. You download their app, check in to the movie you want to go see, they send you a credit card that you pay for your movie tickets with, you take a picture of your ticket stub, and you go watch the movie! That’s it! Taking a picture of the sub is a new feature they just rolled out to help cut down on fraud. While it is an extra step, they make it really easy, you do it all in the app, right then and there, and if it helps keep Movie Pass around by cutting down on fraudulent charges I’m okay with it. In our area, a movie ticket is at least $11/person. So, if we go to ONE movie in an entire month, the service has already paid for itself. It has become a really great way to get date night in without spending any extra money!

We’ve thought about doing that movie pass but never jumped on the bandwagon. May have to look into it more.

I love this!!! 🙂 I agree that sometimes it can be hard to get personal. How amazing that your sister is growing her own flowers for her wedding!

I love personal posts – they’re always some of my favorites! A flower arranging party is SUCH a fun and unique idea for a shower, I love it! And I totally hear you on paint colors. We got a few rooms painted before we moved into our new house almost 2 years ago. It made such a difference and now I’m itching to do more rooms. 😉 But it can be tough to pick the perfect color. Looking forward to seeing what you chose!
