While these types of posts might not be the ones that bring in millions of followers, they are always my personal favorites to read. And, to write. It reminds me of “the good ole days” of blogging. The days when you would just write posts like you would diary entries. Diary entries that were public to the world. I would spend countless hours checking up on my favorite blogger’s lives, and connecting with them. It was fun, and, while I try to mostly do more useful posts now, trying to give something of value to my readers, sometimes I just want to share a little life update.
A few weeks ago, the handsome hunk, Tom, and I went to visit my brother in Portland. My brother and I have always been close, even working together for a number of years. Recently, he took a new position that brought him to Portland. He bought his first place, an amazing condo, right in the middle of the Pearl District. If you’re not familiar with Portland, this is my favorite neighborhood. It’s close to everything, Powell’s books, local breweries, great restaurants, shops, and so much more.
Tom and I have a favorite taco and tequila bar, turns out, my brother’s new place is a block and a half away.
So we packed up the dogs, and headed down to see his new place and spend a long weekend in Portland. It was a blast! There is an amazing dog park, one block away. We got up every morning, walked to coffee, and the dog park. On the way home, we swung by the grocery store to grab ingredients for breakfast. It gave me the itch.
I’ve lived in large cities, I spent my college years in Las Vegas. But, I haven’t lived downtown in a truly walkable city. With Tom being in the military, it’s always possible we will move, and while I love where we are, and would happily stay here forever, if we move, and if we move to a large city, I think I want to give city life a try.
Fast forward to last week, Tom left for training. He isn’t deployed, he is safe, he is able to call me every night, and facetime with the puppies. It really isn’t bad, especially by military standards, but I’m still missing him like crazy. To keep myself busy, I’m working on a few projects around the house, and wedding planning! We settled on a date and location. Next up is finding a caterer, finalizing our list, and throwing an engagement party. I’m coming up with some great stuff for the engagement party and I’m looking forward to sharing it all with you!
