I haven’t done a good old fashioned life lately post in a long time, and, full disclosure, the post I had planned for today isn’t ready yet. So, I thought it was a good time for a little life lately.
These types of posts always remind me of the good ole days of blogging, when it was almost more a diary of people’s every day lives. While they might not be the best for SEO, pageviews, and ads, they are still some of my favorite types of posts to read from my favorite bloggers.
Covid-19

Let’s jump in and talk about the pink elephant in the room, the worldwide pandemic. As of now, even though much of the country is starting to open back up, we are still pretty restricted here in Washington. Boating, golfing, fishing, working out outdoors, dog walks, and grocery shopping are really the only reasons to leave the house. Nothing else is open. So, life has been pretty slow. And, I’ll be totally honest, while I am ready for the pandemic to be behind us, I haven’t hated this slower pace of life. There have been some silver linings among all the chaos and confusion.
The House

We have been tackling house projects left and right. We finally have the time to do some of the things we have been talking about forever. We still have a very long to do list to renovate our 1990’s home, but it feels good getting a big dent in the list. Recently I revealed our living and dining room paint job, and shiplap accent wall. Stay tuned for our backyard fence and master bedroom reveal! Still on the list is the rest of the backyard, kitchen, floors, and painting the house. Ooo that is a lot when you type it all out!
The Dogs

Whoever first said that dogs are living their best lives during the coroavirus got it right! The dogs are loving this! As I write this, I have two of them curled up beside me, and one at my feet. They are loving all the extra attention and so many dog walks! As one of the few outdoor activities we can partake in, they are going on more dog walks than ever! They have peed on every rock, flower, leaf, and blade of grass in the entire neighborhood.
Honeymoon
Well, as I shared on here, we had to cancel our honeymoon. I was, and, still am, sad about missing out on our plans. Right now, we should be in the south of France. But, I have been looking on the bright side, we get to plan another honeymoon. Which, will be even better! And, while we aren’t currently on an amazing, romantic trip across Europe, we have gotten to spend a lot more time together over the last couple months. The Handsome Hunk has a demanding job, and spends a lot of time at work. While, he is still working, he has also spent a lot more time at home. So, I’ve gotten to spend more time with him than I was expecting to be able to this spring.
Home

Home life has actually been really good. I feel guilty saying that. I know there are a lot of people struggling right now. But, the slower pace of life has been a really nice change from our usual go, go, go. We already cooked a lot at home, but that has gone up a lot. And, actually having time to go grocery shopping, which is an entirely new phenomenon to me. I have had time to work on this blog the way I’ve wanted to for years. I planted a garden, that, fingers crossed, is actually thriving. I sewed for the first time in years. Given, it started out as DIY face masks, but then I picked back up on half done projects that have sat neglected for eons. Both Tom and I have taken up baking together, like homemade pretzels, which has been really fun. We’ve gone golfing, boating, and fishing, spending lots of quality time together. So, all in all, it really hasn’t been bad.
What does your new normal look like?

Looks like you are making the most of it! I don’t mind being home either, but I do like to get out during the summer.

I’m so glad that you’ve been able to make this time at home positive. You are so good at looking on the bright side! I’m sorry you had to postpone your honeymoon, but youre right, it’s great to have time home with our husbands, and I you will get to go on your honeymoon later. That is a great way of looking at it! I can’t wait to see your master bedroom. We’ve also been working on things in the house and our master bedroom still has nothing decorated or on the walls. It’s nice to finally have time to work on this stuff though. I’ve been loving having Nick home more. We’ve gotten a lot done around the house and he’s been able to spend a lot more time with the baby which is great. Overall there are a lot of things I don’t like about this time but there are also a lot I really do like (like getting back into blogging!)
