What the H-E double hockey sticks is someone suppose to write as their first post?! This is what has kept me up at night all week! Alright, not really. But, really, where’s a good place to start? Maybe just an introduction, short and sweet. I would describe myself as… MILLENNIAL Luckily, I survived my early, mid and have landed happily…

Before I got taken into surgery, I did the hardest Before I got taken into surgery, I did the hardest most gut wrenching thing I’ve ever done. I told my sweet, caring husband how much I loved him. And then I told him if I didn’t wake up I wanted him to have a long and happy life without me. It broke me saying those words. Not the kind of conversation I thought we would be having a year into our marriage. It made me realize how many things I thought mattered 24 hours before, didn’t matter at all. Not one little bit. Clearly, I did wake up, and I have this new sense of gratitude for every second I get to live this beautiful life. Prior to this, I would say how grateful I was, but I truly didn’t feel it. I always wanted more. More money, bigger house, nicer car, fancier clothes, more more more materialism. Now, I want less. Less stuff, less stress, less anxiety. And what I do want more of looks very different. I want more time, more laughter, more adventures, more love, more simplicity. I want long conversations about meaningful and deep topics. I want to give my time to things that mean something to me. I want a life that is filled with purpose. On the blog I’m sharing some very nerdy science, and how science says to find meaning and purpose in your life. What do you want more and less of in your own life?
I was completely shocked and overwhelmed by the ou I was completely shocked and overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from my last post. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. It’s been a scary and overwhelming time and I genuinely appreciate your support. As a way to show my appreciation, I wanted to give away my favorite planner to one of you. Having my tasks laid out in front of me for the day and the week has been so helpful for me in staying focused and avoid feeling completely overwhelmed. (I know, it’s a little late as we are already in 2021, but I’ve had a lot on my mind and I knew one of your could benefit from this planner as well.) This gingham planner from @whitneyenglish is not only beautiful (swipe to see!) but also has a section on creating goals that are focused on balancing your life in ways that speak to your heart. It’s been helping me put things in perspective for 2021 which has been a nice start to the year.

In addition to surviving a worldwide pandemic, mur In addition to surviving a worldwide pandemic, murder hornets, a coin shortage, UFOs, and all the other crazy things that 2020 brought, I can also add almost dying to that list. Luckily, Tom made me go to the ER, which saved my life. The ER trip resulted in multiple major surgeries, countless procedures, months of treatments ahead of me and more upcoming surgeries. This experience has put a lot of things in perspective in my life. It’s been a huge reminder that life is a gift and can be taken away at any moment. Go hug your loved ones, make amends if you need to, make those big life changes you’ve always thought about and make your life is one worth living. You never know when you won’t have those options anymore. Life is too precious and short to lead a life you don't love.

We grew lots of veggies this year, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, collards, cabbage, peas, onions, and leeks to name a few! But, turns out, just the two of us can’t quite eat everything we planted. We don’t have to let it go to waste! @BonniePlants and @AmpleHarvest teamed up to help local food pantries take in food from home gardeners. I was able to find a local place to drop off vegetables at AmpleHarvest.org. It feels really good to help support my community and neighbors in need! #bonniegrowsmore
Did anyone else plant a quarantine garden? 🙋‍ Did anyone else plant a quarantine garden? 🙋‍♀️ I’ve been wanting to plant a vegetable garden for years, but until this year, it really wasn’t a priority. So glad we finally dove in! We have loved eating out of our garden. A mixed veggie stir fry bowl is one of my favorite of our culinary creations! #sponsored

We ended up planting more than we could eat. And during this time where so many local families are hurting, it felt wrong to throw away perfectly good food. @BonniePlants joined forces with @AmpleHarvest to help make an impact on our neighbors and our communities. Now, you can DONATE your home grown vegetables to the hungry in your community. Talk about a game changer! Head over to AmpleHarvest.org, and see where you can donate near you! #bonniegrowsmore

Still over here, soaking up every last moment of s Still over here, soaking up every last moment of summer in this crazy year. Our annual camping trip looked a little different, it was just us and the dogs, hanging out on a boat, on a hot, lazy, sunshiny day. And maybe it wasn’t bustling with friends, but different than doesn’t mean less than. My weekend away with my husband was full. Full of laughter, love, and sunburns. And the cutest swimsuit ever!
