Whew, last week was a long week moving. My back hurts, I got a little grumpy a couple times, but we are all settled. In case you missed it, the Handsome Hunk and I moved in together! So far, officially one day down, it’s amazing. Everything I could have asked for and definitely worth the pain in the butt last week. Literally! I have the bruise to prove it! Now onto more fun things…
I get asked regularly what my skincare routine is.
I’ll be honest, a lot of it is thanks to my mama. She is in her 50’s and still has flawless skin. I’ve got some good genes.
But, 30 is right around the corner, and I do love sunshine in the summer months, so I want to make sure I’m taking the best care of my skin that I can. I’m also a busy professional, with an active social life, and I’ve been told on numerous occasions I’m the most low maintenance, high maintenance person out there. This means I like to look good but I’m a little bit lazy. Basically, I want to be doing all the things I should with my skincare routine, but I don’t want it to take an hour every morning.
The one skin concern I do have, is my skin is sensitive. Now, occasionally I have a breakout, or every once in awhile I’ll have some dry skin. But those are few and far between. But, what I do have to be careful with is what I’m putting on my skin. Sometimes, even products that are labeled as for sensitive skin, are too abrasive for my skin and leave me red, puffy and uncomfortable for the day.
So, what’s a girl with sensitive skin to do? I got turned onto Phytomer when my family owned a hotel with a spa. The Milk Cleanser is so creamy and gentle while still leaving my skin feeling nice and clean. I use it either alone or with my Clarisonic Mia 1, which I use almost daily. The original Mia 1 with a sensitive brush head is perfect for my skin.
After cleansing my skin I use the Phytomer Rosee Toner, which is my all time favorite product! Seriously, this will make you fall in love with toner. Using it has reduced the size of my pores and who doesn’t want that? I just recently started using the Oligoforce Serum and that has made a big difference for my sensitive skin. It’s specially designed for sensitive skin, to help sooth irritated skin, reduce redness and helps the effectiveness of my moisturizer.
As far as moisturizer goes, I go for the Douceur Marine Soothing Cream which is also made specifically for sensitive skin and leaves my skin feeling velvety smooth. Up until recently, I had been lackadaisical with my skincare routine. But, in the past couple years, I’ve gotten much more diligent about making sure I’m taking care of my skin. Like, I said, I was blessed with good genes, but those only go so far. Being proactive about the health of my skin is one of the best gifts I could give myself.

I’m so lazy with my skincare, but it’s something I’m always looking to improve. I basically wash my face at night in the shower and throw on some moisturizer and that’s about it!
Lily says
I can be so lazy about skincare, but I’m trying to be better for sure!
I have never heard of this brand, but I will have to look into it. My skin has been freaking out lately and it’s so frustrating!

I loved reading this! That sounds like such a great product, too. I have been going around and around for all of my adult life trying to find the perfect skin care routine for myself, and finally landed on something I *think* works – I’ve been combining Clinique with essential oils and it seems to be having a great effect!

One of my favorite skin routine tips, do not rub skin dry, pat gently, then apply moisturizer to damp skin.

I am a skin care fanatic. I moisturize at least twice daily and use serums, creams and also a mask weekly.

I stopped using my Mia about 3 years ago. The washes weren’t doing much for me, but maybe the Mia would work well with my Rodan and Fields? I hate that I paid for it (and loved it) but don’t use it anymore.
I love reading about others’ routines!

I don’t have a tried and true routine, lately I have been using raw organic coconut oil mixed with rosehip oil and a little essential oil.
Seyma Shabbir says

I think my biggest tip is the one that I didn’t start following soon enough and that is don’t wait to start a skin routine! I feel like my skin looks a lot older since I hit my 30s and I wish I had started taking better care of it earlier!
