Typically Jane began in 2018 as a space to share my love for both adventure and everyday beauty.
Hi, I am Jane, and it’s really nice to have you here today.
What started as a small blog has grown into a place to celebrate the simple things that make life feel good, from camping under the stars to baking something sweet on a quiet Sunday.
With a background in Outdoor Recreation and Fine Arts, I’ve always been drawn to both creativity and the outdoors.
My days often include exploring new places, cooking homemade meals, curating cozy outfits, and making my home feel warm and welcoming.
To me, beauty lives in the real moments, muddy boots, messy kitchens, and happy hearts.
Life in the countryside keeps me inspired, and my dog, Scout, is always ready for the next adventure or a rainy writing day at home.
Through Typically Jane, I share stories and simple ideas that remind us life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful, it just needs a little heart and a touch of adventure.
With love,
Jane Parker.
There’s something about a warm bowl of soup that just hits differently on a long day. But most comfort foods come with a catch. They’re either too rich, too heavy, or they demand an hour of your time in the kitchen. Vegetable and lentil soup skips all of that. It fills you up without weighing you down, comes together faster
Fried rice is one of those dishes that is hard to resist. But if you’re keeping an eye on carbs, it’s usually the first thing you cut back on. Still, there’s a way to enjoy it. One cup of white rice has around 45 grams of carbs, while one cup of cauliflower rice has just about 5 grams, and that’s
The first time I made Halibut and Tomato Provençal, I didn’t expect something so simple to taste so refined. Just good fish, ripe tomatoes, herbs, and a little olive oil. That’s it. But you sit down to eat, and it feels like a proper restaurant meal you’d linger over with a cold drink. If cooking fish at home feels intimidating,
You know that craving something warm, deeply savory, a little earthy. Risotto always comes to mind. But the usual Arborio rice version has started feeling a bit same-same, hasn’t it? That’s where mushroom-and-farro risotto comes in. Farro brings a nutty chew that rice simply can’t replicate, and paired with the deep umami of mushrooms, it’s the kind of one-pot meal
Most veggie dinners leave you reaching for something else an hour later. Not this one. This eggplant and tomato ratatouille has been on my regular rotation since I first made it on a grey Sunday afternoon with whatever was left in the vegetable basket. This rich, slow-cooked, deeply savory one-pot meal proves that when simple ingredients are done right, they
Eating light doesn’t have to mean eating sad. I used to think low-calorie meals were just boring. Then, on one of my friends’ recommendations, I tried shirataki noodles for the very first time, and my weeknight dinners haven’t been the same since. This shirataki noodle stir-fry is the kind of one-pot meal that is quick, filling, and genuinely good. Curious
Some nights, dinner needs to do the heavy lifting. It’s cold, everyone’s hungry, and I want something that feels fulfilling without spending three hours in the kitchen. That’s exactly when I reach for this cabbage roll recipe. It’s the kind of one-pot meal that tastes like it took all day but really didn’t. Tender leaves, a savory meat filling, and
Taco night looks a little different around here these days. It started as a simple swap of crisp lettuce instead of a tortilla and somehow became the meal I make on repeat. Fresh, colorful one-pot meal, and ready in under 30 minutes. If you’re after something lighter on a warm evening or just want a taco night that feels a
Some mornings, you just want something that fills you up without weighing you down. Clean, simple, real food that takes 20 minutes and actually tastes good. I started making egg white vegetable scramble bowl on weekday mornings when I needed fuel without the heaviness, and it’s become one of my most-reached-for recipes. Packed with protein, loaded with vegetables, and endlessly
Some weeknights, you just need a bowl of something warm and saucy. Not a thirty-ingredient situation. Not another dry chicken breast. Just honest, homemade food. That’s where this turkey meatball and veggie marinara comes in. Lean turkey meatballs, a rich tomato sauce packed with hidden vegetables, and enough comfort to make you forget it’s a lighter meal. I’ve made this
